The False Gap Theory (ebook) by Kent Hovind

GapTheory

Since the time of Christ, nearly all Christians believed and taught that the earth was created approximately 4,000 BC as clearly revealed by simply adding up the dates given in God’s inspired Word.  Even the Jews and most Muslims consistently teach the same thing.  In the early 1800s, some unbelievers (and a few Christians) began to teach that the earth was “millions of years old.”  This old earth teaching laid the groundwork for the evolution theory, which became popular a few years later.  In an effort to blend both belief in the Bible and “millions of years,” some well-meaning, but misguided theologians, invented the “gap theory” which allowed “millions of years” to be placed between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2.

As this new gap theory began to be accepted by the church in the early 1800s, the majority of Christians offered little resistance.  This effectively “neutralized” them in the war between The Bible and the rapidly spreading world view of evolutionism.  This godless evolution theory resulted in the rise of such philosophies as Communism, Socialism, Humanism, and Nazism.  The acceptance of the gap theory opened the floodgates for these ideologies, which have caused untold suffering, as well as hundreds of millions of deaths, in the last two centuries.

I hope this booklet will help the reader see that the gap theory, which many well-meaning people have promoted, is unscriptural, unscientific, unnecessary and is a dangerous compromise of God’s Word.  I believe it leads directly to one of the most serious heresies in the Church today.

This was a short read and an excellent explanation and argument against the Gap Theory. Dr. Hovind used the Bible, common sense, reason and logic. Way back in the beginning of the Gap Theory, instead of sticking with the Biblical argumentation many ministers caved in to the pressures of the world and of science. A really good book to read and helps explain quite a bit!

Dallas Jenkins: ‘God’s Impossible Math’ Funded THE CHOSEN

By Tess Farrand, Associate Content Editor

THE CHOSEN is the largest crowd-funded project in Hollywood history, but that’s no accident–it was provision from God.

“The more free, the more accessible, the more easy we made it for people to watch it, the more income came in for future episodes and seasons,” said creator Dallas Jenkins in a Facebook LIVE interview with NRB.

People have been so generous that Jenkins and his team are a year ahead of schedule in terms of funding for season 2. Season 1 released in 2019.

“This is God’s impossible math,” Jenkins added. “It’s not my job to feed the 5,000, it’s my job to supply the loaves and fish.”

Movieguide® said that THE CHOSEN is unlike any other Jesus program you’ve ever seen. Part of the reason for the appeal is the characters’ backstories.

“That’s the secret code of the show. Jesus isn’t the main character,” said Jenkins. “He’s one of five main characters and that allows us to see Him in a different way although the [bible] stories haven’t changed.”

According to Jenkins, the characters in the series inspire viewers to contribute to the series.

“After [the viewers] watch it, they become eager to spend whatever God lays on their hearts,” said Jenkins.

May God continue to bless Jenkins and THE CHOSEN team going forward.

Fox’s Book of Martyrs Or A History of the Lives, Sufferings, and Triumphant Deaths of the Primitive Protestant Martyrs by John Foxe

Martyrs

Faithfulness under persecution-even to the point of death-characterizes the dozens of people profiled in John Foxe’s classic account. This abridged and updated edition of Foxe’s Book of Martyrs includes all the most compelling stories-of the deaths of Jesus’ disciples, of Reformation figures, and of other believers killed for their deep faith. Though the picture of man’s inhumanity is often difficult to see, the light of God’s love and mercy shine through clearly. For more than 400 years, John Foxe’s account has challenged readers to love, trust, and serve God more confidently.

We, as Christians, are destined to suffer for the cause of Christ. The evils that were inflicted upon these people was astounding and unconscionable. The inflictors of pain and suffering was intended to garner converts, but quite often failed. They just turned out to be sadomasochists at heart. All because they differed in their beliefs and understanding of the message of the Bible. Well worth your time to read!

The Story of the Jews Volume 2: When Words Fail: 1492–Present by Simon Schama

StoryJews2

The words that failed were words of hope. But they did not fail at all times and everywhere.

These gripping pages teem with words of defiance and optimism, sounds and images of tenacious life and adventurous modernism, music and drama, business and philosophy, poetry and politics. The second part of Simon Schama’s epic Story of the Jews is neither overwhelmed by hopelessness nor shrouded in the smoke of the crematoria. As much as it gives full weight to the magnitude of the disaster that befell the Jews, it is a story of hope vindicated rather than wiped out.

The stories unfold across the world – in the provincial pavilions of Ming China and beneath the brass chandeliers of Rembrandt’s Amsterdam; on ships and carts, stage-coaches and railway trains crossing oceans and continents; in the honky-tonk of San Francisco and the pampas of Argentina, the department stores of Berlin and the avenues of Trieste. The stories themselves are played on the stage of opera houses; in the travelling camera of an expedition in Ukraine, the prison cells of Stalin’s Russia, the lagers of the Holocaust; the scenery of misery and redemption in Palestine and Israel.

At the heart of the story is the budding belief that peoples of different faiths, customs and cultures can be fellow-citizens of a common country.

And amidst all the brutality, somehow the light of Jewish endurance is never extinguished. The odyssey is unforgettable, the storyteller impassioned, the words unfailing.

If you are looking to search the story of the Jewish people, at least a small portion of it, these two volumes were very good and informative. The heartache, the travail, suffering, etc. Rather heart wrenching in my opinion. Good historic account!

Can I Trust Bible Translations?

Is it a conspiracy? Do translations intentionally change the Bible’s message? Is the NIV a “gay Bible”? Is it the “Not Inspired Version”? There has been a lot of false information floating around out there about how the Bible has been translated. Many people are confused about the difference between textual sources and translational methodology. Many are under the false impression that newer translations are “taking out” various passages that belong in the Bible. However, there are some genuinely bad translations. This video is an attempt to bring clarity and rationality to the discussion and leave you with a general understanding of Bible translations.

Check out all the videos in this series “Evidence for the Bible

I thought this video, by Mike Winger, was rather helpful, even though others stick diligently to their positions. It is truly well worth your time to watch, listen and learn!

The Soul of America: The Battle for Our Better Angels by Jon Meacham

SoulAmerica

Our current climate of partisan fury is not new, and in The Soul of America Meacham shows us how what Abraham Lincoln called the “better angels of our nature” have repeatedly won the day. Painting surprising portraits of Lincoln and other presidents, including Ulysses S. Grant, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, and Lyndon B. Johnson, and illuminating the courage of such influential citizen activists as Martin Luther King Jr., early suffragettes Alice Paul and Carrie Chapman Catt, civil rights pioneers Rosa Parks and John Lewis, First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, and Army-McCarthy hearings lawyer Joseph N. Welch, Meacham brings vividly to life turning points in American history.

He writes about the Civil War, Reconstruction, and the birth of the Lost Cause; the backlash against immigrants in the First World War and the resurgence of the Ku Klux Klan in the 1920s; the fight for women’s rights; the demagoguery of Huey Long and Father Coughlin and the isolationist work of America First in the years before World War II; the anti-Communist witch hunts led by Senator Joseph McCarthy; and Lyndon Johnson’s crusade against Jim Crow. Each of these dramatic hours in our national life have been shaped by the contest to lead the country to look forward rather than back, to assert hope over fear — a struggle that continues even now.

While the American story has not always — or even often — been heroic, we have been sustained by a belief in progress even in the gloomiest of times. In this inspiring book, Meacham reassures us, “The good news is that we have come through such darkness before” — as, time and again, Lincoln’s better angels have found a way to prevail.

*******

Regardless of your political beliefs, each president has played a role, at some point in time while in office, to be the soul of America. Regardless of what you think of each and every president that has taken the office, has played a part in the central focal point of America. This was an interesting read and has changed my opinion, to a certain degree, on each of our presidents. Well worth the time to read.
